Between Two Valleys is a novel about a girl and a wolf who travel across mountains and valleys to reach the ocean shore where they can drown themselves. Along the way are memories––of departures on the path they now return on, of towns before their birth, and of their homes back when they weren't even houses.

From the girl, reading the record of the wolf’s mother; to her own parents, telling the story of her birth to the wolf––from valley, to hill, and then the final shore––these echoes hammer down on them until, by the time they reach the shore, each understands the other's past as if they were the other's parents, oblivious to their own.
